Outline

Introduction:

For my introduction I started off by providing some background information on the Holocaust. I broke down what the Holocaust was and how long it lasted, etc. Then, I Introduced my primary sources that I used, which were: The Diary of A Young Girl, and Night. I also gave a brief summary of my primary sources. Next, I introduced my inquiry question: "How does Anne Frank's experiences during her two years in hiding during the Holocaust compare to the two years that Elie Wiesel spent in the concentration camp based on their autobigraphcal accounts"

(Sources)
Frank, Anne. The Diary Of A Young Girl. Doubleday, 1995.

Wiesel, Elie. Night. Bantam Books, 1982.

Historical Context:

In this section I gave info about what exactly was going on during the time that both of the authors wrote about. They were born a year apart, but they lived in different locations. This part is crucial because it will provide necessary information and background knowledge on the two and their surroundings, which is crucial to answering my inquiry question effectively.

Analysis: ( answer question using the evidence from my primary sources and inferences) Location experience: everyday surroundings. Level of Fear: did they see death or fear death, if so how often. Family Life: were they with there family, what was that like, did they ever get split up from their family. (Those are the main experiences that I am concentrating on in my analysis.)

I will split the analysis up and focus on each of the authors separately, and then for corroboration I will come together and compare/ contrast my findings.

Anne Frank
  • What was Anne’s experience like
  • What did she like and dislike
  • Who was she surrounded by
  • Was her family present?

Elie Wiesel
  • what was his experience like
  • what did he see, what did he say about what he saw
  • was his family with him?

Corroborate:
  • Here is where I took all the information that I analyzed and inferred and compared the two, and talked about the differences and similarities that were present.
1.What are the main similarities and differences between their experiences?
2.What factors could account for these similarities and differences?
3. What additional information or sources are necessary to answer more fully the guiding historical question?

Conclusion:
  • based on their accounts what did I take away
  • what were the main differences
  • what were the main similarities
  • what does the differences and similarities have in common

ROUGH DRAFT:
this is my paper before I proof read and added in all of my citations. This was basically just me formulating my outline into coherent thoughts and sentences to get the basis of my paper.

FINAL DRAFT:
This is the final copy. It has been proofread and edited more then 3 times. It is written with Chicago style in text citations.
